Because many side roads in Beltrami County, and around Red Lake are still not plowed, Red Lake Schools will start two hours late tomorrow morning. With the extra time and daylight, we hope people will be plowed out by then. Buses may be moving slowly through some secondary roads. Buses may not be able to go down side roads if they are not plowed. We ask for your patience and understanding, as we do our best to bring students to school. Miigwech!

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for NW Minnesota from 4:00 am tomorrow through Friday. Due to this impending blizzard with expected rain, ice, snow and wind, Red Lake Schools will NOT have in-person school tomorrow. Instead, we will be holding an E-Learning Day across the district. All students will receive online assignments or paper packets to complete for the learning day. Students are expected to complete their work and submit it by Monday of next week. We are also postponing parent-teacher conferences that had been scheduled for Red Lake and Ponemah Elementary Schools tomorrow. We will announce a date in the future to reschedule those conferences. As a reminder, there is no school on Friday in observance of Veterans Day. Thank you for your cooperation as we hold an E-Learning day tomorrow.

On 10/28/21 the Red Lake Secondary ALC Ojibwe Language and Culture class went on a field trip to the old Blackduck bridge located on the Old Ponemah Road. Arnold Kingbird, the Schools Elder Language Mentor, showed them what is called a Bagijige or “s/he makes an offering.” He shared that this is done in the spring and fall time to ensure the safety of a person when they went out to fish or swim, and it is a way of giving back to the lake for providing us Bimaadiziwin (Life). All in all, the ALC students loved this ceremony and so did Migizi because he soared right us by after the offering was made. We noticed he was tipping side to side giving us a sign that he was happy that the students did this. Chi-Miigwech to Arnold and Vicki Graves for making this happen.
